As stated in the Malabaila
family Archives, collection n. 69, year 1583: "Register of the estates of Count Malabaila regarding the Merli farm: land with vineyards on the Vallaretto slope, measured in 5 "giornate" and 2 "steri", local ancient measuring units. Nebbiolo Bric Merli is a top-quality wine coming from the vine giving it its name. Its colour is a more or less dark ruby red, and may become garnet red through ageing. Its degree of acidity, minimum 5 per thousend, is good, it is full bodied, while its degree of alcohol is rather high, 12 % minimum. Its scent is slight and delicate; the violet scent is outstanding. Its taste renges from dry to slightly sweet, rightly tannic when new, velvety and well balanced when old. |

accompaniments: Like Barolo and Barbaresco, Nebbiolo Bric Merli is connected with tasty and spicy cooking, expecially piedmontese cooking, but is very appreciated with sophisticated international expecialities, game and red meat. Serving temperature 16/18 degrees. |
